Number 43: Mi-Sex - Blue Day

At #43 we find the second and final song by Kiwi band Mi-Sex. From their fourth album, 1983's Where Do They Go?, "Blue Day" cracked both the New Zealand and Australian top 40. Although the song didn't chart internationally, it has always been my favorite Mi-Sex tune. Steve Gilpin, Murray Burns, and crew made some great music during the 80s, and I think this track is their greatest.

  1. New Zealand, due to its isolated nature, is home to many unusual animals that resemble more familiar ones but that are actually found nowhere else on earth e.g. kiwi birds, yellow-eyed penguins and Hector's dolphin. Scientists speculate that this may have been due to random encounters between species that resulted in new branches on the evolutionary tree. This extends to synth-pop, where Mi-Sex may have quite possibly been produced when The Church happened upon Squeeze in the Tasman Sea and they engaged in a vigorous session of cornholing

    1. Wow, wasn't expecting that ending! On another note, Squeeze is one of those groups that, although I like a lot of thier songs, just didn't make my Top 200 list. Frankie Goes To Hollywood is another one of those. Other groups, like Soft Cell, Mr. Mister, Spandau Ballet, and Tears For Fears, I just loathe.

  2. Agree, agree, I like exactly one (1) Spandau song, and agree.

    That song is "Gold"

No one expects a properly executed cornholing !

    1. "Gold" is okay. So is "True". The rest - blah.

    1. Name some good Spandau and TFF songs, I'm all ears. ...on second thought, don't bother with Tears For Fears, there are none.
