Number 62: Honeymoon Suite - Burning In Love
Ah, the majesty of Honeymoon Suite! Formed in Ontario, Canada in 1981 by Johnny Dee and Brad Bent, these guys expertly straddled the line between rock and New Wave throughout the 80s. Their eponymous 1984 album spawned two monster hits in "New Girl Now" and "Burning In Love", the latter of which takes the #62 position on my Top 200. Filmed entirely in the Niagara Falls area, witness the glory of one of the best Canadian videos of the entire time period. It never gets old!
Headbands, cut off sleeves, leopard prints, mullets, dudes in tight denim, girls with big hair and bigger eyebrows, costume jewlery, puffy skirts, open shirts, single gloves, flying V guitars, bad video overlays, blackout sunglasses and a DeLorean. One day thousands of years from now future historians will discover these videos in a time capsule and conclude that he 80s was one of the most pioneering and magical times in the history of mankind ... in spite of the existence of all of these things and Honeymoon Suite
Best comment ever! Even if you don't like Homeymoon Suite. I saw them live once at a little bar called Winston's. They didn't just perform for the audience, they *partied* with the audience before, during, and after the show. Great live band.
There is no doubt that with the low bar & expectations that are set with their cheesier-than-Kraft-dinner videos that their live shows would have to be comparitively awesome ! Glad they respect their fans so much
