Number 164: Play - In My Mind

Wayne Kennedy. The man behind Play. The mastermind of the Red Movies EP. Little is known about this international man of (synthpop) mystery. In 1985, Play released their one and only collection of recordings, and then quietly vanished without a trace. The remixed vesion of "In My Mind" is a masterpiece of atmospheric synthesizers and driving drum machines. Wayne, if you're out there, thanks! #164 with a bullet.

  1. had never even heard of these guys back in the big 80s ... then heard the title track Red Movies on SOMA-FM Underground 80s a few months back and was blown away. this song is just as good!

  2. just bought it and been listening all day. fantastic, start to finish ... all my favorite stuff... new romantic, soaring synths, vocals with sense of urgency, post-punk guitar bursts ... Play was The Shite. All reminds me a bit of another song that i hope makes your list... it would be my #1 ... we shall see !

    1. I'm still moving songs around here and there, but my top 20 or so has been set for some time.
